Men's Art
"In art, we painted shields and decorated them with Aboriginal symbols. I liked it, because it was relaxing and enjoyable. It was good to have a break from traditional lessons to do some 'Men's Business'."
"One thing I found really interesting was that the different symbols represented different ideas. It was interesting that even shields could be about communications!"
"The Art group worked towards creating a homage to Aboriginal Artist Jonathan Jones' work 'Skin and Bones'. In his work, he highlighted loss of Indigenous Australians. We tried to represent the loss of a big Gum tree in the quad, so we created it's silhouette. It was about loss of nature and loss of culture. We've all lost together, and we need to work hard to make it right."
"Deb taught us lots of interesting things about Jonathan Jones.
It was hard at first to imagine how the installation would look.
When we finally pieced it together though, we were really proud. I think we did a good job in the end."
