I am a Kamilaroi girl from the north of New South Wales. I would like to learn more about Kamilaroi culture.

 

At Waranara I have shared our knowledge with the Year 8 students, and I really enjoyed listening to the stories of the Uncles. Uncle Wes told us about culture, he told the story of how the birds all got their noises and he knew so much about culture and wanting to share it with us.

We haven’t had a smoking Ceremony before, so it was touching to share our culture with others. I loved hearing Uncle Greg talking in language, I could sit and listen to him all day.

 

We are teaching the Year 8 girls a dance, we are putting in as much culture into the dance. The girls are showing the boys their dance and we want to show they they have as much power in their dance as in the boys’ war cry.
