I am a Kamileroi girl, from the north of New South Wales. I have enjoyed listening to the stories of the Elders who visited on Monday. Uncle Wes sat with us for a few hours sharing Dreamtime stories. He told us how birds get their colours. I was really interested in hearing all the stories he knew.
For Waranara I have been teaching Year 8 about Aboriginal dancing. We have taught them the dance of the emu, the kangaroo and the eel. They have been really respectful in their learning about how our culture is different for boys and girls.
I hope they all have a better understanding of our culture after Waranara, and feel very proud of the First Australians.
