I am a Guringai girl from the Central Coast just a few hours north of Sydney.

At Waranara I have learned about different ways of doing dance and art, unique ways. I really liked learning with the Elders, especially Uncle Wes, he told us Dreamtime stories and about his family traditions. He told us the story of the Crow and how birds got their colours, and he told it in a way that was different, that reflected his life as a Bigambul Man.

It has been cool to work with the Year 8s. I have been working on the dance room and the girls catch on really quickly and I like the way they interpret the moves and make them their own.

I would like to see Aboriginal Studies run for Year 11 next year, it would be a cool opportunity to learn more about our culture, more than we already know. It could run for the younger years as well, so more people can know about our culture.
